Getting Started
Work through the steps in order, and you will experience the basics end to end — from your first sign-in to saving a memory from your AI, recalling it, and confirming it on the dashboard.
Time required: about 10 minutes · What you need: a Google or GitHub account, and an MCP-capable AI service (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, Codex, etc.)
1 Sign in
Open memory.kagura-ai.com and the sign-in screen appears.
- Choose "Continue with Google" or "Continue with GitHub".
- Review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then check "I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy".
- Approve on the provider's authentication screen, and your workspace dashboard opens.
The Trial plan is invite-based. See the pricing page for current sign-up availability.
2 Connect your AI service
You use Kagura AI as a shared memory from the AI service you already work with. Open "API keys" or "OAuth apps" in the left menu to reach the "Credentials & Integrations" screen, where you find your connection credentials and the MCP connection URL (MCP endpoint) shared by all clients.
There are two ways to connect — pick the one that matches your AI service.
Option A: connect with an API key (Python SDK, scripts, and other clients)
- On the "API keys" tab, issue a new API key. For security, it is hidden automatically 10 minutes after creation and can't be shown again, so copy and save it right away.
- In your tool's MCP (connector) settings, set the MCP connection URL and the key you saved.
- Once connected, your AI can use the remember and recall tools.
Option B: connect with OAuth (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor)
- In your client's connector (MCP server) settings, add the MCP connection URL. No OAuth app, client ID or secret is needed.
- A Kagura AI sign-in screen opens. Sign in, then approve the request on the consent screen.
- Once approved, your AI can use the remember and recall tools.
- Other clients connect with an API key (option A). If a client asks for an OAuth client ID and secret, create a custom app on the "OAuth apps" tab.

3 Save a memory from your AI service (remember)
In a conversation with your connected AI, simply ask it to remember what matters.
The AI calls remember and saves it, with a summary and tags, into a context — a "container" for memories. Keeping one context per project or theme makes things easier to find later (you can ask your AI: "Create a new context called 'Reading notes'").
"Remember this design decision, with the reasoning." / "Remember the conclusions from today's meeting."
4 Recall it from your AI service (recall)
Open a new conversation and try recalling what you just saved.
The AI searches the context with recall and pulls in only the relevant memories. No more re-explaining from scratch across conversations and tools.
"Recall how we decided this before." / "Review this with last week's discussion in mind."
5 Confirm it on the dashboard
Check in the web interface that your memories were saved. Go back to memory.kagura-ai.com and use the menu on the left.
- Dashboard — if total memories and API calls have grown, your AI service is connected and working. You can also see the memory-creation timeline.
- Contexts — shows each context's memory count and last activity. What you saved in step 3 appears here.
- Storage — check how much of your storage you are using.
6 Use it as a team
Everything you just did can be shared with your team as is. Invite members to your workspace and give each a role (owner / admin / member / viewer).
Each context has a visibility setting (private / shared / public), so shared team knowledge and personal memories stay cleanly separated. Save your team's decisions into a shared context, and every member gets the same knowledge — from whichever AI service they ask.
Inviting members and shared contexts are available on Pro and up, and public contexts on Max (Trial and Starter are for a single user).
7 Plans and billing
Paid plans are monthly only and renew automatically every month from the date you subscribed (there are no annual plans). Upgrades take effect immediately, and the difference, prorated to the end of the current period, is charged right away (a refund within the first 14 days includes it). Downgrades are scheduled for your next renewal date.
You can cancel at any time from the billing page. A few things worth knowing:
- 14-day money-back guarantee: choose "Cancel and return to the Free plan" within 14 days of your first subscription and we refund every payment on it in full, for any reason (including plan changes in that period), and switch you to Free right away. Once per workspace, first subscription only, with no condition on how much data you store. Renewal charges and subscribing again after cancelling are not covered. Refunds go through your card issuer and usually take 5–10 business days; some issuers take longer.
- Cancelling after the 14 days: you keep your plan until the end of the paid period. No refund, no cancellation fee.
- Downgrading: if you are within the new plan's limits, the switch is scheduled for your next renewal date. You keep your current plan until then, with no prorated charge. Until then your current plan's limits apply; anything over the new plan's limits when it switches can't be added to until it fits (nothing is deleted). You can cancel it on screen until the renewal date; upgrading, cancelling or taking the refund removes it. If you are already over the new plan's limits, you can't schedule it — tidy up the items shown on screen first.
- If a payment fails: you keep your paid plan for 14 days from the first failure. We e-mail you to update your card when the payment is retried; if payment is not received within 14 days, the workspace switches to Free (the unpaid amount is not charged).
- Back on Free: while your memories or files are over the Free limits, you can only sign in, list, delete, export and subscribe again until they fit. Delete from your AI through MCP, the CLI or the API (bulk deletion in the web app is not available). If returning to Free will leave you over its limits, we e-mail you 7 days before the period ends. Members, contexts and paid-only features over the Free limits are paused, not deleted, and come back when you subscribe again.
- If a workspace stays over the Free limits for 30 days, all of its memory data and files are deleted (the account stays, and you can use Free with an empty workspace). We e-mail you how many days remain before deletion.
- E-mail: we send payment and over-limit notices by e-mail. Keep your inbox able to receive our e-mails and check that they don't land in spam.
- You cannot delete your account while a paid subscription is active (including one scheduled to end). Cancel first, then delete it yourself from Delete account after the period ends — it is not deleted automatically.
